What is the best scalp oil for winter?

Dry scalp is a problem a lot of people face, especially during winter when the weather is both colder and dryer. Indoor heating and going from one extreme to the other makes the moisture from our hair and skin less effective at retaining moisture, and the little moisture we have evaporates faster. As this is a problem many of our customers face, we thought we’d take a closer look at three popular oils that might help dry, itchy scalps, and even promote hair growth 🤓

Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil

Mielle’s Rosemary Mint Oil is one of the most popular scalp oils on the market today. The oil is rich with nutrients and made to help with hair concerns such as dry scalp, hair follicles in need of nourishing, and split ends. The main ingredients are rosemary and mint oil, which helps stimulate the scalp to promote hair growth, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal benefits. The oil is also infused with biotin, which helps improve strength and elasticity without the use of paraffins, mineral oils, parabens or sulfates. Made to be used in many ways, this beneficial oil can be used as a scalp treatment, or for daily use, depending on your needs. Mielle’s Rosemary Mint Oil is safe to use on all hair types, even chemically treated hair! It’s no wonder this oil has gained the popularity it has, as people have reported to see quick results when using the oil consistently.

Design Essentials Moisturizing Oil Treatment

Filled with natural antioxidants and moisturizing ingredients, this lightweight oil blend from Design Essentials provides a lot of benefits, without leaving build up or clogging pores. It contains Marula, which is a natural source of vitamin E that deeply hydrates the hair, as well as being an antioxidant. Lavender oil is an often underestimated hair growth stimulator that also moisturizes, nourishes, and has antiseptic qualities that soothe damaged skin. Mixing these two oils together results in a mixture that helps improve the overall health of the scalp, as well as keeping it moisturized and balanced without the use of mineral oils or fragrances. When using the oil, it’s recommended to apply a few drops to your scalp daily, or when it’s in need of some extra love, and massage it in. The oil is light, and should be work well for all hair types and textures, although it might not be perfectly suited for people with a more naturally oily scalp.

Curlsmith Scalp Stimulating Booster

Curlsmith’s Scalp Stimulating Booster is a daily morning scalp serum that helps moisturize, stimulate and balance the scalp, in order to help promote healthier, fuller hair. This vegan and cruelty free serum contains ingredients such as: anagain*, baicapil*, and a stimulating blend consisting of ginger, nettle, guarana and dragon fruit. It contains no sulfates, silicones or parabens. What makes the Stimulating Scalp Booster different from other oils is that it’s a topical solution, meaning it only works in the areas where it’s been applied. You can expect to see and feel a difference after 12 weeks of consistent use. The scalp stimulating booster can be used on any hair type, texture or porosity! Its formula makes it fast absorbing, so it leaves no residue and smells fresh, but not overwhelming, when applied, yey!

/*Anagain is a patented hair growth ingredient that is derived from pea sprouts. It is a botanical ingredient that is designed to stimulate hair growth and improve hair density.1
/*Baicapil™ is a synergistic combination of scutellaria baicalensis, soy, and wheat sprouts. It stimulates hair growth, increases hair density, reduces hair loss, and allows the recovery of a younger and healthier look.2

All three oils listed above are great candidates for a rich moisturizing anti-itch winter oil for all textures. While they may be similar in that they are all clean and straight-forward with their ingredients, they all have different benefits and ingredient structures that will give your scalp and hair lots of love and care depending on its needs and your wants. But one thing is for sure, your hair will need an extra boost of moisture to make it through the winter months, so make sure you keep your tresses properly moistured and hydrated!
